Live Classical Music Recital

Live Classical Music Recital

We are excited to host a very special event this Saturday night at Yoga Agora. Please join us for a unique opportunity to hear live classical music played by some of New York City’s most talented up-and-coming musicians. We will sit or lay on the floor (with windows open, weather permitting) to relax and listen to music.

This program is being organized through Groupmuse. Since 2013, Groupmuse has been bringing live classical music recitals into local residences. The concept is simple: classical musicians are paired with local hosts to play a private concert. Hosts can invite their friends to create an audience, and everyone enjoys the pleasure of listening to live classical music.

Program:

Two pieces for the same instruments, written 100 years apart!

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791)
String Quintet No. 3 in C major, K. 515
I. Allegro
II. Menuetto: Allegretto
III. Andante
IV. Allegro

INTERMISSION

Antonín Dvořák (1841 - 1904)
String Quintet No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 97
I. Allegro non tanto
II. Allegro vivo
III. Larghetto
IV. Finale: Allegro giusto

Screen Shot 2018-05-14 at 4.25.41 PM.png

When: Saturday, May 19th. Doors open at 8:00pm. Concert is 8:30-10:00pm.

What to bring: The tradition of Groupmuse is to bring your favorite snack and/or drink. Many people bring a bottle of wine. We will have a table set up if you’d like to bring something to share for others. Think of it as a nighttime picnic.

Price: Donation-based. The customary donation is $10, though any amount more or less is welcome. All donations will be given directly to the musicians. This is a great chance to fund local artists!

RSVP is encouraged here. We will also accept walk-ins, space permitting.

Sunny Solstice Kundalini Workshop with Renee

Let's celebrate our connection to the Sun by igniting the fire within!

Summer Solstice is the annual moment of our Sun's highest energy...the source of physical light and life. This is the time to sit with the "you in you" - to detach from the mind's billion thoughts and develop your intuitive infinity. To prepare for Sumer Solstice we will do a series of movement, breath, and meditation that releases fear and brings mind and emotions into alignment with intentions.

To seal the deal we will lay out to the sound vibration of the universe for a reset that only deep relaxation can create.

30 min yoga

11 min meditation

31+ min Sound bath

Full Moon Sound Bath with Renee

The full moon is a time to release what no longer serves us, inviting an expansion of our minds and bodies. We will use the full moon energy to strengthen our true intentions, actions, and dreams. It is a weeding of the garden planted during the new moon transit. During the cycle of the moon each month, we can use the new moon to plant seeds of intention, and revisit again at the height of full moon so that they might come to fruition.

In this class we will do a  30 minute Kundalini Yoga Kriya, or set of physical exercises, an 11 minute chanting meditation for prosperity, and then lie down and accept the healing and transformation offered through the sound vibration of the Gong and crystal bowl  for a 31 minute sound bath.

Kundalini yoga is a technology for self-awareness which accesses all 8 limbs of yoga in a single session.  The live symphonic gong bath will use the sound current to clear away any remaining subconscious clutter and reset all of your body systems.

New Moon Kundalini

Join us for a lunar Kundalini practice and meditation for personal growth before we lay out and synchronize our vibration with the vibration of the gong and all things.

The new moon phase is an optimal time for planning and seeding our dreams. Seedlings need a period of gestation before they break through the soil and reach for the sunlight. This is also true for our cultivation of our ideas and clearing the way for our visions to surface in reality. The dark side of the moon, with its mysterious unseen forces, offers a nurturing environment where our dreams can establish roots that will sprout and reach out to the stars. $10

Gong Out, Bliss Out

Kundalini Yoga and Meditation with extended gong relaxation ($10).

This is the perfect way to decompress after the work week. In this class we will do 45 minutes of physical practice to prepare for a deep relaxing vibrational reset of the nervous system through the sound of the symphonic gong. The gong bath will be approximately 22 min.

"The universe is powered by sound. The gong is the basic creative sound. Out of the gong comes all music, all sounds, all words. The gong is the first and last instrument for the human mind. It is the one thing that supersedes the mind. The mind has no power before the gong. It takes three to ninety seconds for the sound of the gong to overtake the mind. We now have the opportunity to experience new realms of our own psyche, new energetic aspects of our own being, new dimensions of ourselves. We have the choice to explore, to create. This is the true flexibility of yoga---the beginning of the union of the finite within the infinite."- Harijiwan.com

Karma Kundalini

Thousands of refugees are arriving on the tiny island of Lesbos, Greece every DAY with nothing but their wet clothes. They come from Turkey on tiny rubber rafts overstuffed with people. Many do not make it.

On April 23rd a friend and I will  donate our vacation time and the cost of travel, room, and board to volunteer providing humanitarian aid to the refugees. When I arrive I am able to buy food and supplies directly ~no bureaucracy~ for these refugees who have nothing.

I will help people get on land, get in dry clothes, find their friends and family, get water and food, and locate medical help if needed.

Thank you for your practice, and efforts towards peace on our planet.

With gratitude and appreciation, Renee Dryg

Pop Up Winegasm: Yoga, Wine & Wellness

This event will focus on wine culture and wine specifically chosen for yogis, meaning wines that are small production and made with a lot of TLC - handpicked, naturally fermented, minimal use of sulfur (what gives you headache the next day), organic, bio-dynamic and even vegan friendly.

They say you are what you think and you are what you eat but they always forget to mention that you are what you drink too. It is so important these days what you put into your body since you want to keep that balance. So don't settle for less and drink well, life is too short to drink bad wine!
